OFEL no. 4

Sunday 8th November: The weather was kind to us again today, and we had 2 new participants, welcome Mike on the run and Terry, our Stage Manager from Ladies Night - biking from OSPA to Kaos via Pukekawa!
April, our groupie could not be with us today, she is away at Outward Bound for 3 weeks.
I borrowed a nice new bike with 21 gears from Jan Gemmell. Michele and Cherie ran to the bridge.
One of our runners, who shall remain nameless, but was wearing dark coloured shorts, shirt, socks and cap and had a back pack on, got a ride just past Rowes house. Picked up in a cute little blue car, driven by Vinnie.
We hope to see you again in a fortnight Mike!
Running all the way again was Kelly and Rob, with an official time to beat today of 56.49.41

OFEL no. 3

Sunday 25th October, another fine day, and a new participant. Cherie, who played Glenda, choreographed all the dances, and taught the boys to dance for 'Ladies Night' joined us, and with Michele, ran to the bridge(4 miles). Rob was running (energiser bunny)and April (Groupie) and I cycled again. I borrowed Robs bike with gears this time, easier on the flat, I could keep up with April, but I found the hills a little more challenging, I think I need to get used to the gears! Michele and Cherie then met us at Kaos for coffee, as did Mike and Andrew.

Sunday 11th October, the second trip to Kaos was a nice fine day, with kickoff at 10.30am from OSPA. I borrowed my sons bike for the ride, it didn't have any gears! I was slow on the flat, but could peddle up each of the 4 hills without stopping!
Enthusiasts today were Rob, Michele, Kelly, myself, and our very own groupie...April. April is our groupie because she is nowhere near the age of forty. Kelly played the main character of Craig in Ladies Night, his solo dance was to the music of The good the bad and the ugly theme tune and 'Macho Man'. Rob and Kelly ran from OSPA all the way to Cafe Kaos in under 1 hour. Michele, April and I would ride ahead, and rest after each of the four hills, for only a minute or two, and low and behold, the boys would have caught us up and passed us again! Michele and I both took photos for this day, mine can be seen on facebook. I stopped after crossing the bridge to get a photo of Rob and Kelly, but it was a damn stupid idea because the traffic was almost constant, and dangerously close to me.
The distance covered is 7 miles(how many km's?), mostly downhill or flat, and the hills really are babies. For those of us who are not very fit just yet, cycling them is manageable.

OFEL What the??? There are two versions.
Old Farts Exercise League, or the one that I much prefer -
Over Forty Enjoying Life.
The Onewhero Society of Performing Arts latest very successful play was 'Ladies Night'. For 8 weeks the cast learnt their lines and learnt some pretty amazing dance routines, as well as getting fit at the same time.
Rob who played Wes in the play and did the wonderful Zorro dance to Antonio Banderas' guitar piece had the great idea of keeping in touch with cast and crew by keeping his fitness up, and having some company while he did it.
Thus, the first gathering one Sunday was Rob, Nick and Kelly (I think that was all, I wasn't there) and they ran from Onewhero to Cafe Kaos in Tuakau.
Rob decided to meet every second Sunday, and I managed to make it for the second one!
